Gold Lake OHV
Author Ryan (cachief) (e-mail)
Year July 2010
Trail Open June - October (Depending on snow level)
Difficulty Moderate [5]. A few undulated surfaces but suitable for high clearance 4X4. Not too many sharp turns so full sized rigs should be fine.
Description Gold Lake 4X4 trail is a beautiful trail that offers access to a network of other moderate-difficult OHV trails in addition to wonderful hiking, fishing, and wildlife viewing. I went in mid July and it was pretty busy at the campground on Gold Lake, but was able to find a spot all to myself at little Gold Lake. From Gold Lake, I hiked to Snake and Little Deer lake which took a few hours but the swimming and views were excellent, especially at Little Deer Lake. Check with the forest service on conditions. When I hiked above Little Deer Lake in mid July the trail was still blocked by about three feet of snow.

Fishing Fishing at Gold, Snake and Little Deer Lake. I didn’t catch anything at Little Gold but am sure they have a smaller variety there.
Camping Yes. About 10 developed campsites on Gold Lake 4X4 campground. Three sites at little Gold Lake.
